Meet Professor Rodrigo Grenno
Rodrigo Grenno didn’t just come to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He grew up with it.
Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – the birthplace of BJJ – Rodrigo began his journey on the mats in 2000. From his first class, he knew this was more than a sport. It was a way of life.
Over the next decade, Rodrigo dedicated himself to mastering the art under one of Brazil’s most respected figures: Professor Marcio Cruz, known worldwide as “Pé de Pano.” Rodrigo earned the distinction of being Professor Marcio Cruz’s first black belt – a milestone that reflects not only his technical excellence but the depth of trust his instructor placed in him.
His competition record speaks for itself. Rodrigo has competed multiple times at the IBJJF World Championship, won the Florida State Championship, and earned victories at numerous IBJJF Opens throughout his career. He has tested himself at the highest levels of the sport and proven himself time and again.
In 2010, Rodrigo brought everything he learned – the technique, the discipline, the culture of Rio’s BJJ community – to Largo, Florida, and founded Supremacy Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Why Florida? Simple. He fell in love with the sunshine, the people, and the opportunity to build something real in a community that embraced him.
More than 15 years later, Supremacy BJJ has become one of Pinellas County’s most respected martial arts academies. Hundreds of kids, teens, and adults have trained under Rodrigo and his coaches – earning belts, building confidence, and discovering what they’re capable of.
Rodrigo holds a 4th degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and continues to teach classes, coach competitors, and lead Supremacy BJJ with the same passion he brought to the mats on day one.
His mission has never changed: to share the art that changed his life with everyone willing to show up and put in the work.
